Roan Forgie MSN, PMHNP-BC

Roan Forgie, is a board-certified mental health professional, who has nearly 20 years experience in the nursing profession. He started as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York City, and it was in the very early stages of his career, that he recognized the challenges that people with mental health issues face. As such, he has embarked on a journey to do something about it. He is committed to providing individualized care to each client, recognizing that each person is unique, and should be treated accordingly. He considers himself a change agent, who is not only prepared to talk the talk, but to actually walk the walk. Roan believes that there is still a stigma associated with mental illness, and this has adversely affected the delivery of care to people with mental illness. So it is a personal crusade of his, to remove barriers to treatment, to advocate for the most vulnerable among us, to bring awareness to mental illness, and to facilitate changes in the way society responds to the issue.

Roan’s career has spanned many settings, ranging from nursing homes, home care nursing, emergency rooms, inpatient psychiatric unit, to community outreach. He has worked with clients across the lifespan and considers it a privilege to care for those who are in need. His belief is that once you become a nurse, you will always be a nurse. This approach is evidenced in the people-centered care that Roan delivers on a daily basis. His brand of caring embraces the development of a partnership between client and provider; where the client is actively involved in his or her own recovery and health. It is built on trust and mutual respect, where the client is made to feel valued and appreciated.

Roan graduated from Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA with an undergraduate degree in nursing, and from Walden University with a master’s degree in psychiatric/mental health nursing.
